This image of a wild otter, was taken on the Isle of Mull in October 2008. There were at least 3 otters feeding at the head of a sea loch at around mid-day, feasting on butterfish. Carefully following their progress across seaweed strewn rocks (*not so carefully), I encountered this adult having just exited from the water. He(she?) scrabbled around on the rocks for a short while, then turned, looked directly at me (for long enough to shoot around 3 frames!), then disappeared back to the loch, no doubt to fish for more lunch…

A break from fishing to pose for the camera

*Not so carefully, as with camera, 300mm lens on tripod slung over shoulder,I lost my footing and went hurtling on said seweed festooned rocks! One dented lens hood, and one dented pride.
